Rick Wycis grew up in New Jersey riding horses since the age of six and participated in 4-H, learned horse care and competed in the hunter/jumper ring. As he got older he began working for instructor Eleanor Robinson-Valtri at Pembrook Farm to pay for lessons and showing. Under her tutelage he started to going to "A" shows and rode clients horses in Children's Hunters, Pre- Green Hunters, Low Working Hunters , an the Adult Amateurs and teaching full time. He furthered his education by riding with Frank Madden, Karen DePrato, Frank Hernandez, and Greg Best. Rick eventually made his way to the West Coast and started his own stable at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center. His riding and teaching philosophies center on the ideas that riders of all ages can learn much more than simple equitation when learning to ride. He believes that horses themselves are great teachers. “The most important thing to learn is the simple pleasures of just horse'n around!!”
